MARTHA Tilston returns to Calstock Hall for The Oxygen Tour on Saturday (March 19).
Martha first played the hall in 2007 and completely wowed the Calstock audience, many of whom had already fallen under her spell whilst she was performing on the festival circuit. She has been back since: once more at the hall and once at Calstock Arts.
Her new tour is a sparky union of folk, acoustic trip-hop and electronica backed by her longtime collaborators Matt Tweed and Matt Kelly, amongst others.
‘She has the power to draw an audience into her world, leaving all those present with a smile, and a few issues to ponder, too,’ said Time Out.
‘…redolent of early Kate Bush, soulful vocals that soar around, an understated masterpiece,’ said Acoustic Magazine
‘Martha Tilston has carved her niche with sharp, original songs that dissect the modern world. It is an engrossing set, she captures both the harshness and enchantment of life, with the salt of sea air almost palpable,’ said The Guardian.
