FIREFIGHTERS from Bere Alston and Tavistock spent all Tuesday night tackling a blaze at a barn at Little Gawton, near Bere Alston.
In addition to the three fire appliances, a water bowser from Plympton was drafted in to help fight the fire, which destroyed the barn and around 500 bales of straw.
Bere Alston station officer Colin Shaw said: ?It was well alight when we got there at about six o?clock ? the barn was made of concrete and asbestos and we were hampered by the asbestos, it was giving off quite a few troublesome particles.?
Tavistock CID officers are treating the fire as arson. Anyone with any information or who witnessed anything suspicious is asked to call Tavistock Police.
