Broadmeadow ST 10

Okehampton Argyle 0

WITH another much changed side, Okehampton made the long trip to the Teign estuary with a good deal of trepidation. Those players that did make it were shuffled around in an attempt to provide suitable cover and, despite conceding a goal on ten minutes, they defended resolutely and bravely.

Even after the second it looked as though Argyle were to make a game of it and they started to work forward a little. Two scrappy goals just before half-time extended Broadmeadow's lead to a point that would be irretrievable but Okehampton's patched up side could be happy with their efforts.

Just what happened mid-way through the second half only certain Okehampton players will be able to explain. For some 20 minutes they cast discipline to the wind. Broadmeadow swept forward and scored regularly.

Unfortunately, the ones to suffer most were the Argyle players who kept plugging away. Coleman, Littlejohns and Mortimore tried more than most to keep the score within reason.

Mortimore had come on as sub for the injured Jon Carter and between them the two keepers played superbly but were outshone to the referee's man of the match vote by makeshift defenders Ditchburn and Fitchett.
