POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a collision on the A386 has left two elderly people with serious injuries.

Two vehicles collided just before 11am on Tuesday, April 9 on the A386 between Okehampton and Hatherleigh.

A Vauxhall Corsa was in collision with a Peugeot 206 travelling in the opposite direction which contained an elderly man and woman, who are believed to be from the Tavistock area.

As a result of the collision, the two elderly occupants of the Peugeot 206 suffered serious injuries and were taken to Royal Devon and Exeter by air ambulance.

The woman suffered life threatening injuries, and the man had serious but not life threatening injuries. The driver of the Corsa had minor injuries.

A police spokesman said the elderly couple are now making a good recovery.

Police from the serious collision investigation unit are appealing for witnesses to this incident to contact them on 101, quoting log number 249 of April 9 2013.
