POLICE in Tavistock are appealing for witnesses following a burglary in the town just before Christmas. The incident occurred in the Mohun's Park area of the town, between 6am on Saturday December 23 and 11am on Christmas Eve, but the police believe the crime is most likely to have been committed overnight. The items stolen include a man's gold Rotary Heritage dress wristwatch and a ladies' watch, the same make and type, a silver necklace with a ruby pendant, a small silver snuff-type box with an engraved pattern on the lid and a gold fobwatch chain. DC Rebecca Deane said: 'I would like to hear from anyone who has been offered these items for sale or was given them for Christmas. 'I'd also ask if people are aware of strange vehicles at unusual times in their area to call police on 08452 777444, with as much detail of the vehicle and its occupants as it is possible to give.' DC Deane said crimes of this nature were unusual in the West Devon area, which is considered a very safe place to live. 'No-one was hurt and the property was unoccupied at the time of the burglary,' said DC Deane. Anyone who can help the police with this incident should quote crime reference JT/06/1735.
