DARTMOOR is world-renowned for its legends, from the Hairy Hands to Holmes and the Hound — and that attraction has been proven once more around Wistmans Wood, where, over recent weeks, London-based production company Vertigo Films has been busy on its latest movie.
With a working title of 'A Night in the Woods', it stars Scoot McNairy, Anna Skellern and Andy Hawley, and has the scary flavour which is the speciality of Vertigo, which won an Oscar last year with a real-life exposé of Dolphin hunting.
The cast and crew stayed at the East Dart Hotel at Postbridge.?Proprietor Paul Joynson said: 'We have been here for four months now, and this was a most enjoyable and informative three weeks for us. We wish them well with the film.'
While in residence, the company took a particular fancy to the beer from the Princetown Brewery, and were given a special tour, courtesy of Mark Shackleton. No doubt they sampled a little 'Jail' and 'Legend' — the new brew named for Dartmoor and its tales perhaps!
The movie is due to open next year.
