TAVISTOCK, away to Cornwood, looked to extend their 29 points lead at the top of division 1 of the Devon League. Steve Nicholson lost the toss, with Tavistock being put in to bat on a very slow and low wicket. Both run-machine Searle and Jones went early, leaving Willcock to pick up the pieces. Mortimore was playing extremely well until hitting a simple catch. This brought Qomoyi to the crease, where he and Willcock put on a 100 stand to bail Tavistock out. A late knock by skipper Nicholson along with Qomoyi enabled Tavistock to reach 196. After tea Qomoyi removed both openers, bowling quite fast considering the slow nature of the wicket. Unfortunately Salman Mohammed, who has recently been selected for the Pakistan A side, seemed immovable. Giving what was a superb knock he was out in the second last over for 82 in what seemed a very debatable umpiring decision. So, in what could be described as a wonderful game of cricket Tavistock came out with 14 points, reducing their lead at the top down to 25 points.
