TAVISTOCK Camera Club this week announced the winner of its latest competition.

The triptych competition comprised three photographs in one mount on a single theme, and is one of a number of competitions held for members throughout the year.

The winners, chosen by Times editor Colin Brent were 1, Turnley Hoskins; 2, Phil Saundry; 3 Alison Donkin; highly commended, Mel Fine and Karen Harrison.

The friendly club, meets at the URC Church in Russell Street on selected Wednesday evenings from September until June.

As well as competitions and club outings, the programmes contain a variety of talks by outside specialist speakers, most of which are open to the public.

The club tries to cater for a wide range of abilities and members are always willing to give help and advice to those less experienced.

It is shortly to run a basic photography course specially put together for people who are beginners or who just want to learn how to take better photographs, whether their cameras are compact 'point and shoot' cameras or a little more sophisticated.

There will be five sessions at approximately fortnightly intervals, starting on February 23.
