Devon County Cup
Okehampton Argyle 3rds 1
Amory 4
ON the back of two straight league wins, Okehampton faced a stern test against a team from three divisions above them.
After 15 minutes Amory placed a free kick into the Okehampton box and scrappy play saw the ball poked into the net.
Okehampton continued on the back-foot and relied on the towering presence of Richard Eddy who dominated arial balls, but by half-time they were 2-0 down.
Argyle were sent out into the second half with the challenge of scoring in the first ten minutes, and responded by
doing exactly that. The Amory keeper suffered a moment of madness when Kinsey stole the ball from his feet and rolled it into the back of the net, taking his tally to five in three games.
Okehampton picked up their game and made a few assaults on the Amory goal, but failed to convert the good work into goals. The game fell a little flat and Amory took advantage and scored a further two goals.
The Argyle players gave a good account of themselves and should have gained some excellent experience to take back to the league this week — they will be away to Heavitree and Wonsford USC.
Man of the match: Steve Kinsey.
