Tavistock Ladies 2nds 1 Marjons 4th 1 THE second league match of the season saw an even and well fought game from both teams. Tavistock started with the first push-back, Emma Passmore laying it off to Chloe Bassett who released it to the wing, which spurred the first run towards the opposition. Strong defending saw the opposition steal the ball and make their way back towards Tavistock?s half. The first goal was claimed by Olivia Eadie who was positioned well on the post and scored from a rebound after a strong central run by Chloe Basset and a strike at goal. Marjons? goal came towards the end of the first half, from a gap in defence that was able to let a strong strike in. The second half saw a change in goalies from a first time try in goal by Sophie Bassett, who fought well to keep the score level, despite some unnerving attacks, to Chloe Bassett who showed good skill and prevented two attacks that would have put the opposition in a definite lead. The second half saw much improvement in play but despite a more energetic and communicative team, Tavistock were unable to increase the score. Better passing and releasing of the ball earlier when moving up the pitch and when in the D, put more pressure on the opposition who fought hard. Player of the match: Chloe Bassett.
