AFTER having several matches postponed or not completed because of rain, the ladies of the Okehampton Tennis Club were pleased to get a couple of matches played to the finish.
Against Chagford they managed a draw 2-2. Angela and Lin lost their first match 3-6, 2-6, but won the second 6-2, 6-4.
The matches went the same for the Okehampton second pair, Sarah and Julia, the first match lost 1-6, 2-6, but the second won 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.
When Sidmouth ladies were the visitors on July 19 the Okehampton ladies enjoyed a home win, 3-1. It was a draw earlier in the season at Sidmouth.
Angela and Lin won 6-0, 6-3 and a hard tussle 7-5, 7-5. The second pair, Marcia and Julia, lost their first 2-6, 1-6 but won their second 6-4, 6-2.
The ladies had another good match in which they won 3-1 against Sampford Peverell A team.
Angela and Lin won their two matches 7-5, 6-0 and 6-2, 6-1, while second pair Marcia and Julia lost their first match 3-6, 2-6, but went on to win a close battle 7-5, 7-6.
The Okehampton men's B team enjoyed their first win of the season with a 4-0 win against the Country Club E team, Andrew and Jonathan Carter winning 6-4, 6-3 and 6-0, 6-1. The second pair, Scott Rose and David Carter also won 6-3, 6-2 and 6-4, 6-3.
The ladies B team held a ladies' team from Lympstone to a 2-2 draw. Beth Carter and Jackie Jarvis maintained their 100 per cent record with wins of 6-1, 6-1 and 6-4, 6-3.
The second pair, Teresa Sanderson and Jo Butler lost their two matches 6-4, 6-4 and 6-4, 6-3.
