THE historic rooms at Buckland Abbey have been beautifully decorated to celebrate the festive season and play host to a number of Christmas events. All year, the garden team have been growing gourds to decorate the hall for Christmas, and there is a glorious festive braid suspended down the length of the Georgian staircase, decorated with parcels and fruit. The decorations will be on display in the abbey at weekends only until Sunday December 19, with reduced admission charges ? £2.70 for adults, £1.20 for children and National Trust members free. The abbey is open from 11am with last admission at 4.15pm on Saturdays and Sundays. The National Trust Christmas shop and restaurant are open from 12pm to 4pm on Fridays and 12.30pm to 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Father Christmas will visit the shop on December 19 and Christmas lunches are available when pre-booked. For more details of any of the events, telephone 01822 853607.
