A FELL Terrier was recently taken to Wingletang Rescue Centre, near Tavistock, after it was abandoned at the PDSA in Plymouth. The puppy, who was at the time about six weeks old, was left in a lot of discomfort, and after initial x-rays it was discovered she had two fractured femurs. The PDSA had no choice but to operate. After the operation, the staff gave her gentle physio to encourage movement. When Kessie arrived at MGFT animal sanctuary in Heathfield five days after the operation, she was reluctant to try and walk. However, after a few days she showed everyone her true colours. A spokesperson for MGFT said: 'Her walking has improved but at the moment her legs still need strengthening and one of her paws is knuckling. Kessie continues to have gentle physio. Her true terrier spirit has overcome any discomfort that she is going through.' The trauma sustained to Kessie's legs may leave her with disabilities in the future but as she is young she will be able to adapt.
