CLASSICAL music in all its guises — not live music, but the best CDs and sometimes DVDs presented by experts or enthusiasts and all up for discussion by members. Members, that is, of Tavistock recorded Music Society, which meets every other Tuesday from September 7 to May 24 at 7.30pm sharp in the portrait room at the Bedford Hotel.

Many friendships are forged at society meetings, based on a shared interest in music. Besides musical presentation, the society offers news of local musical events such as festivals, concerts and recitals. Representatives of record companies are frequent visitors, bringing discounted CDs and news of their latest products.

This season will include presentations by the conductor Paul Foster and organist Sean Sweeney, plus amateur dramatics star Trevor Hampton in another slecetion of readings from G B Shaw's musical criticism.
