REFERENCE Mr Bennallack's letter (September 9), a produce and flower show for Tavistock and district was held every year for over 150 years and run by Tavistock and District Gardening Club in the pannier market.

The reason we stopped using the market was due to the fact they had double booked one year and then wanted to charge the club over £1,000 to use the market for the duration of the show.

Subsequently, we moved to the parish rooms and the show continued very successfully until there were not enough exhibits and only two people willing to run the show. Reluctantly, we no longer have a show in Tavistock due to the cost, the lack of exhibits and the lack of helpers.

Should Mr Bennallack be able to find enough people to successfully start the show up again then perhaps he could attend one of our meetings held on the third Thursday evening of the month at the parish room at 7.30pm. We have very good speakers and some great outings. He and any other interested parties would be welcomed.
