Carlsberg South Western League
Bodmin Town 4
Tavistock 0
THIS was a disappointing performance by the Lambs. It was on par with the previous week's first half but this time it continued throughout the game.
They did threaten early on as Steve Daymond swung in a cross-cum shot that went just wide.
Bodmin struck the side-netting on two occasions before the Lambs had half a chance as Daymond swung in another cross for John Gosling to head at the keeper.
It was the Lambs' inability to prevent the crosses coming in from both wings that were their undoing and on 25 minutes the home side opened their account.
James Cole cleared off the line for the ball to go for a throw-in and back it came for Dominic Richardson to head home unchallenged.
The Lambs were fortunate to go in at the break just one goal down when in the last minute Bodmin had two chances to increase their lead.
From a corner Ryan Cross hit the crossbar and a through-ball saw Andy Meeds slip to allow Luke Hodge. But the speed of it forced him wide and Meeds was able to block his shot.
The second half was almost one-way traffic with the Lambs having to defend for lengthy periods and it was no surprise that Bodmin increased their score on the hour as Adrian Bleasdale got to a near-post cross to glance home.
Darren Babb cleared another chance off the line before the home side got their third with 20 minutes remaining.
Again another cross came in from Richardson for Hodge to head home at the far post unchallenged.
The Lambs had a chance with five minutes left when Paul Smith headed wide from Dave Hallet's cross but that was the amount of their efforts before sub Adrian Walton struck through a crowd of players to bring the game to a finish.
A sluggish show from the Lambs beaten by a side who had a greater urgency about them. Tavistock will need to bounce back quickly from this if they are to maintain their high position in the league.
