LOVERS of spicy Indian food can now take a trip up the Biryani Junction thanks to a new international venture launched by Dartmoor Railway.
The Biryani Junction Indian Restaurant and Takeaway opened at Okehampton Station on November 6.
The restaurant was officially opened by mayor of Okehampton Cllr Tony Leech together with mayoress Sue Leech.
Cllr Leech congratulated Dartmoor Railway on the initiative and said he hoped the town would see further initiatives to give more choice to the people of Okehampton and help the area to prosper.
The Bulleid Buffet at the station was transformed into an Indian-style restaurant with most tables booked and a constant stream of takeaway customers.
Judy Crouch, restaurant manager, said the opening night had been busier than expected. She said there had been some minor problems but she was pleased the demand had been proven and was looking forward to the regular Friday and Saturday opening.
