THE long lost piece of Okehampton history's unveiled at an open day at the town hall last Thursday was the 'Simmons Casket'.
The silver gilt casket, which displays pictures of Simmons Park and Okehampton Castle and was given in connection with the opening of Simmons Park in 1907, is on temporary loan to the town council.
Okehampton mayor Christine Marsh managed to track down the casket and thought it would be a lovely surprise to show it off to the townspeople in the week that Simmons Park was rededicated after a major refurbishment programme.
