STUNNING summer flowers and a unique exhibition feature in the Portrait of Peter Tavy festival at the end of this month.

Events at the festival are being held throughout the village between Friday, June 30, and Sunday, July 2.

The exhibition in the Methodist church shows the results of the Peter Tavy millennium photographic project.

Steve Carreck said: 'The people of Peter Tavy plan to leave a bequest to the future in the form of a photograph of every property and its inhabitants — a unique record of the community at the turn of the new millennium.'

Mr Carreck said the record, involving over 100 photographs, had been a 'mammoth' task which involved many volunteers in the community.

'In addition there will be a "then and now" display pairing photographs of the village from throughout the last century with the view as it is today,' said Mr Carreck.

St Peter's Church will play host to the flower festival in which a beautiful floral display reflects the village and its activities.

And for the energetic, there will be a walking tour of around three miles lasting an hour-and-a-half, which leaves the village 11am and heads towards Smeardon Down, returning to the village at lunchtime.

The tour will be held on Friday and Saturday.

The festival finishes with a 'Songs of Praise' style service in St Peter's Church at 6.30pm on Sunday, July 2, to which everyone is welcome.

Throughout the festival, visitors can relax and enjoy home-made refreshments which will be on offer in the village hall.

Opening times for the festival are between 10.30am and 6pm on Friday and Saturday, and 10.30am until 5.30pm on Sunday.
