ST JOHN the Baptist Church in Horrabridge received a cash boost from a recent charity concert.

A fundraising concert was held at the church with bands Flute Cocktail and Saxophonics providing the entertainment.

Flute Cocktail is Devon's largest flute choir, with a mix of concert, alto and bass flutes and piccolos. Saxophonics comprises members from across Devon and Cornwall, playing a selection of music arranged for soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxes.

The bands played separately as well as together, combining to create a single band for two carefully selected pieces.

Ticket sales were shared between St John's Church, in aid of church funds, and Flute Cocktail, to help towards its purchase of 'Hugo' the bass flute, each receiving £115.

The church also raised funds from a raffle and the sale of refreshments during the interval.

Flute Cocktail also received a donation on the evening of £300 towards the purchase of the bass flute, from county councillor for Tavistock Debo Sellis from her community fund.
