A PHOTOGRAPHIC exhibition called 'Dartmoor Century' organised by the Dartmoor Trust at the Devon Photography Gallery, Pannier Market, Torrington, runs from Saturday June 30 to Saturday July 28.

Dartmoor has been described as a timeless landscape, yet it has never been so much at risk from change.

This exhibition shows photographs taken over one hundred years ago by Robert Burnard alongside contemporary views of the same places by John Earle, Bryan Harper and Janet Bomback.

It makes it possible to see how much, or how little, the moorland landscape, its archaeological sites and buildings, have changed.

These images help to open our eyes to the events that have taken place on Dartmoor over a century, and remind us of the importance of collecting and preserving photographs for this generation and future generations to enjoy.

The Dartmoor Trust is an independent charity established in 1996 to grant-aid practical projects which help benefit Dartmoor, its communities and visitors.

The Devon Photography Gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 1pm and 1.30pm to 4pm (closed Wednesday afternoons).
