A MAN was attacked after being woken up at his home in Okehampton early on New Year’s Day.

The two offenders smashed a window of the ground floor of the address in North Street where the victim was asleep. He was woken up by banging and put his head out through the broken window to be confronted by two men in hooded tops on the pavement outside.

They started attacking him through the window, hitting him in the mouth with a pole which left him with two dislocated front teeth and pain in his mouth. He was also cut on his left forearm by the broken glass.

The victim, who was treated by paramedics, told the police he had no idea who the men were and they did not speak to him.

Police are investigating the incident which happened shortly after 6am. Information can be shared by calling the police on 101 and quoting log 476 of January 1 2018.
