A HOUSE burglary occurred between Saturday, May 13 and Friday, May 26 at an address in Youldon Way, Horrabridge, where jewellery was stolen.

The crime happened while the occupants were on holiday.

If anyone saw anything suspicious over that period of time then please make contact on 101 quoting the log number 397 of 29/05/2017.

DC Wayne Thielmann offered a word of advice with the summer coming up and people away on holiday: ‘If you are going away, inform your neighbours so they can keep an eye out for your property. They can then report anything suspicious.

‘On the subject of reporting suspicious activity to the police, if you do see some suspicious activity or circumstances please phone us up  immediately,’ he said. ‘Officers can then be deployed to deal with the situation.

‘There was an incident a few weeks ago whereby a member of the public located a male hiding in a bush at a house —clearly this person was up to no good.

‘The member of the public challenged the male and even took a photograph of him which is brilliant, however he then failed to phone the police but instead placed the item on Facebook.

Police did not find out until about two hours after the incident when it was phoned in by someone who had seen the comments on Facebook. Remember we cannot respond to incidents that we don’t know about. If in doubt call us.’
