POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a collision which has left a Chillaton man seriously ill in hospital.

Simon Breyley is being treated at Derriford Hospital after being found lying in the road in Butcher Park Hill, Tavistock in the early hours of Sunday morning.

His wife Olivia said her husband had been out in Tavistock on Saturday night.

He is now seriously ill in hospital, with extensive injuries including broken ribs, a collapsed lung and a fractured pelvis and back.

He was found lying in the road on Butcher Park Hill at around 2.45am on Sunday (October 3).

An ambulance was called and he was treated by paramedics at the scene and subsequently taken to hospital.    

Enquiries are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police are appealing for witnesses, or anyone with information CCTV or dashcam footage that may assist their enquiries to come forward.

A local man aged in his 40s has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and subsequently released under investigation while enquiries continue.
