THE Tidy Tavy team were out in force in Tavistock at the weekend, with collection bags and litter pickers at the ready.

Sixteen volunteers took part despite less than conducive weather conditions and a total of 28 bags of litter were collected from around the town.

Areas covered included virtually all the roads, car parks and public areas between the Wharf Car Park and the A386 as far as Kelly College. A mobile team also visited the lay-by near Anderton Lane which was particularly badly affected by rubbish.

Large quantities of litter were removed from hedges and especially from pedestrian walkways between main thoroughfares.

It was obvious to the team however, that some business proprietors have been taking time recently to ensure that the areas around their shops and businesses were clean and tidy.
