IT was an excellent start to the Tavistock Athletic Club indoor season on day one of the South West regional Indoor Athletics at the Cardiff National Indoor Arena.

Josh Davies U17 male was awarded the gold standard, claiming South West regional champion in the 200m and 400m races. Isaac Day, attending his first indoor event, was the U15 male 300m champion and well deserved silver in the 200m.

Tegan Holdaway picked up a surprised silver in the U15 female 300m. Personnel bests and strong performances came from Lucy McGuire, Holly Kinsey and Tayla James.

They were all supported by their coach Alistair Kinsey. He said: ‘Every time Tavistock athletes attend a competition they never fail to show commitment, strength, professionalism, sports-manship and the ability to dig deep when it counts. It was a truly inspired performance by all.

‘Next time the U20 and seniors take on the best, aiming to increase the medal hall and acquire some elusive national  qualifying times. ’
