NEARLY 40 athletes from Tavistock Athletic Club took part in the county championships last month. TAC athletes either competed in the Cornwall County Championship down at Carn Brea near Redruth or they travelled to Plymouth for the Devon County Championship. The weather favoured the Devon athletes, however, there was plenty of success from both days with several personal bests achieved. From the 39 athletes that competed they returned with a staggering 30 medals between them; with 18 of these coming from the 'Power of 10 squad'. There were seven club records broken, several National AAA standards achieved and a championship record broken in the 3,000m. The following athletes all broke club records at the Devon championship; Jenny Milburn U13 girls 600m, Natasha Farrington U13 girls 1,200m, Jade Kinsey U17 women 300m, Aimee-Leigh Clowes U17 women high jump, Brook Adnitt U20 men 100m and 200m and in the Cornwall championships Sian Temple broke the club record in the 3,000m and the Championship record too. TAC junior head coach said: 'This was a fantastic achievement by all that attended and athletes of Tavistock Athletic Club, who will now be looking forward to the South West Championships later in the season.'
