ELEVEN year-old Jamie Ninnis had a remarkable victory in a men's event at Tavistock Golf Club.

The Par and Kelly Bowl, a match play competition against the course, saw young Jamie sweep away all opposition with a plus six stroke win over the rest of the field.

Jamie, who has been playing since he was seven, came in six under his handicap — thus cutting his handicap to 22.

Professional Simon Invest, who coaches the juniors, said: 'This is a great achievement for Jamie, he was playing off the white tees and competing against a strong field. We are all very proud of him.'

In division one of the competition Chris Gawman was first with a plus two, second Richard Smith plus one and third Tony Cooper, level. First in division was, star of the day, Jamie Ninnis plus six, second Dan Cooper, plus third and in third place Andrew Dolan plus two.
