WHITCHURCH Wayfarers took a squad of 12 to the Devon tournament for the eight-a-side Lady Taverners U11 girls' soft ball competition.
In the first game Whitchurch scored 248 replying to Thorverton's 226. The second game against Chagford was close with Whitchurch just two runs ahead going into the last over but held onto win.
In the pool decider against Tarka of North Devon Whitchurch scored 221. In spite of some superb fielding Whitchurch lost to Tarka, who went onto to win the competition.
In an exiting third place off Whitchurch tied with Topsham, after scoring off the last ball.

The Lady Taverners U13 tournament is on 24 June — any girls U13 who are interested in playing cricket also get in touch. Whitchurch Ladies team trains on Friday evenings at the club from 7pm.
