MORE than 60 road racers took part in the two stage Tavistock Wheelers’ road race on Sunday.

They faced an individual hill climb time trial in the morning, followed by a 50 mile road race round the Brentor circuit. The racers included the top riders in the South West.

Local Tavistock Wheelers riders were to the fore throughout the stages. Huw Richards was fastest of all the riders in the time trial , with Ben Kirwan in tenth place.

In the series, which consisted of this race and the race on Easter Sunday, Huw Richards won the points ’Green Jersey’ and Jordan Channon was second in the junior competition
