TAVISTOCK Wheelers, with support from the Dartmoor National Park Authority, is staging a Team/Young rider Hill Climb event on the morning of the Tour of Britain stage 7 - Saturday, September 15.

The hill climb will take place on the iconic Merrivale Hill, on the Tavistock to Princetown road — a King of the Mountain stage in this year's Tour of Britain race.

The event will consist of three man (or woman) teams setting off individually from the bottom of the hill (outside the Dartmoor Inn) and riding to a point, at the top of the climb, just before the turn to Princetown. There will also be competitions for corporate teams and young riders.

The event will provide an opportunity for the club's hill climbers, such as Josh Bullock, to match themselves against some of the best hill climbers in the South West.

The hill climb takes place from 9am that day, with the Tour of Britain passing through at 12.30pm.  Dartmoor National Park Authority is providing a number of cycling relating attractions that day.

With cycling at the height of its popularity and the announcement that Bradley Wiggins will take part in the Tour of Britain, it is likely that the climbs up to Princetown will be packed that day.
