A BRIGHT sunny morning saw Okehampton run out for their last scheduled match of the season. Exmouth only had 12 players and so three of the Oke players switched sides.
From the start it seemed as though Okehampton's heart was not in the game and missed tackles led to an early try by Exmouth, which was converted.
Oke did not win ball at the breakdown and inconsistent rucking mean that Exmouth was able to keep possession for much of the game. A second try and conversion from the visitors followed. This stirred a response in the Oke side, with Tom S making a good run, powering through the defence. He passed to Nathan who stretched out with one hand to get the ball over the try line; it was converted by Jim.
Oke continued to lose scrums and lineouts, but Jim and Noah tried to stem the pressure from Exmouth, at times tackling on their own. A fumble by Oke at a scrum and a poor kick led to Exmouth chasing down the ball over the try line and scoring again. Another try for the away team followed before half time.
The second half was almost all in the Oke half and the team seemed to have lost its way a little. Exmouth scored again but once more Tom S picked up the ball and ran forward. Oke was on the attack, finishing in a try by Tom W on his debut. The game finished after a final try by Exmouth.

OKEHAMPTON travelled to a sunny Paignton on Sunday for what should have been a round robin with Paignton and Taffs Wells, but unfortunately time constraints only allowed the match against the touring team to be played.
Following a one minute silence to mark the sad loss of their coach, Bobby Burgoyne, the young Okes came at the touring team firing on all cylinders.
Strong forward play from the outset saw Oke scrum half Joshua Burgoyne, with a neat sidestep and dummy, touchdown for the first try, which he duly converted.
Although a strong, physical team, Taffs Wells found themselves on the back foot with impressive tackling from all the Okehampton players. Saul Holliday had a solid game, covering a lot of ground, putting in big tackles and securing good ball. A sound running and catching game from Will Cunningham saw him bag two well taken and well deserved tries.
Taffs Wells came back at Oke with resolute forward play, to be rewarded with a penalty try, which they converted.
The game was rounded off by great interlinking between backs and forwards, to see Cole Pengelly touchdown in the corner. Although Taffs Wells never gave up, the defensive tackling of all the Oke players, with big hits from Greg Haste and Barnaby Waddell, kept them from crossing Oke's line
Okehampton were unlucky not to score again when Jordan Wilson was so close in the corner, but flagged as in touch, after one of his best games of the season.
This was another solid, well disciplined and great team performance from the whole squad — well done lads, you did Bobby proud.
Okehampton conversions: James Close (2) and Joshua Burgoyne (2).

AWAY to Paignton on a beautiful sunny day meant Oke were in high spirits. From the off Paignton were strong and hard hitting and the visitors took a while to warm up and gain stride.
Paignton dominated most of this game with some real hard hitting tackles. Their ability to intercept was impressive but an intuitive Oke side soon caught on and with a little more speed and agility its defence soon become formidable. With Ethan, Sam and Isaac all scoring it still was not enough to beat a well-played Paignton side.

With Paignton trying to counter ruck a quick Oke side passing out was just too fast for this course of play and gave them advantage in rucks.
Oke were starting to come alive with some great crash tackles, a more defensive line and more confidence. Marcus scored both tries for Oke.
