Tavistock U13s 17

Kingsbridge U13s 10

TAVISTOCK U13s progressed into the semi final after a hard fought home game against Kingsbridge.

The visitors scored first with a fine solo effort from their right winger but Tavistock, led by captain Callum, quickly got back into the game. Callum, Theo and Will G and the rest of the Tavistock forwards contested the rucks strongly against a well drilled Kingsbridge pack.

Ethan, Ben M and Dan made countless tackles in the midfield causing Kingsbridge to spill possession on several occasions. This pressure eventually told and George was unlucky to be judged in touch after what looked like a try in the corner.

Fortunately Tavistock did score through Ben M shortly after to tie the score at half time.

Tavistock doubled their lead early in the second half after the powerful second row James charged through the Kingsbridge defence from 30 metres out.

Kingsbridge rallied to tie the score after a well worked forwards drive.

Tavistock began to dominate large phases of the game. Chris, Gregory and Harry battled hard in the scrums and Will P started getting into his stride out wide. George made good use of the conditions.

The home forwards continued to pound away on the Kingsbridge line enabling fly half Ben M to scored his second try under the posts.

Will P converted successfully and Tavistock finished the game the stronger side and were unlucky not to get a further score.

Tavistock U8s 9 tries

OPM U8s 7 tries

TAVISTOCK U8s were back to winning ways in this competitive match. In the first match Tavistock did well with the ball but the compressed pitch made it difficult for both teams to find space.  Tavistock produced good supporting play but have won more comfortably than the final score.

Tavistock U8s 12 tries

OPM U8s 8 tries

The second game saw the pitch widened which resulted in far more fluent rugby.  Tavistock passed the ball well and their supporting play was superb.  In defence they pressed hard but  most impressive was the number of different try scorers with many players showing excellent spatial awareness and agility.  OPM played well and took advantage of Tavistock being slow to organise.  Captain Joe Wheldon scored five tries and Ted Kenyon, who scored one, was man of the match for his superb tagging.

Other try scorers were Ollie Pett and Ollie Carty (2 each), Ollie Hawkins and Jack Lane (3 each), Liam Watts (5) and Billy Wilkinson and Freddie Fuller.
