Devonport S U16s 12
DEVONPORT Services came out with all guns blazing and kept Okehampton in their own half for the first 20 minutes, but Oke's defence remained firm.
Oke eventually managed to get their hands on the ball and began to
work their way up into the opponents half and were awarded a kickable penalty. The kick just fell short and Services ran it out, but were overturned and the ball was fed out wide to Dan Thorne who raced down the touch line to score under the post. James Bowden converted to give the Okes a 7-0 lead.
Five minutes later Oke managed to make ground through the forwards picking and going and this led to a try for Jack Dickinson who crashed over under the post. James Bowden converted to extend the lead, which they took to the end of the first half.
The start of the second half was evenly contested, but Okehampton scored first after kicking a penalty. Both teams had their chances but with 10 minutes left Services scored twice to set up a tense final couple of minutes. Okehampton held out for a cup win against a team they have not beaten before.
Okehampton U14s 7
Sidmouth U14s 48
THE saying last week was that the game was like a box of chocolates - you are not sure what you are going to get and this week there were no chocolates in the box at all!
Sidmouth's squad arrived at Okehampton with confidence which showed in their playing. Their simple passing rugby dominated from the first blow of the whistle and within minutes they had chalked up the first points.
Okehampton lacked their usual fire and did not seem to gel as a team until way into the second half, where after several persistent runs from pack leader Ollie Brown and Tom Whitmarsh play finally paid off with a worthy try for Ollie. It was converted by Jim Finley.
Ivybridge U13s 5
Okehampton U13s 29
THIS was another display of great teamwork by the Okehampton team. The first ten minutes saw the sides evenly matched, before the deadlock was broken when Olly Northcott, who had a great game on the wing, chased down a kick through, securing the ball well, to set up Greg Haste who cut back inside to touchdown under the posts.
With downhill advantage, Okehampton were keen to put more points on the board in the first half and they continued to apply the pressure against staunch Ivybridge defence. A break from halfway from Joshua Burgoyne saw an offload to Joshua McCulloch, who powered through for Okehampton's second try.
Daniel Tomkins again showed his strength, to bag a try of his own at the end of the first half.
The start of the second half saw Ivybridge use the downhill advantage, taking the game to Oke and scoring a try of their own.
The visitors swiftly replied, with a quick tap and go penalty by Joshua Burgoyne, spun out to Cole Pengelly to score in the corner.
The forwards and backs continued to gel well throughout the second half, creating opportunities, with Seb Haste having a great half in the Pack, along with Charlie Glanville.
The outstanding defensive tackling prevented Ivybridge from scoring any more points. The game ended on a high for Okehampton when well secured ball by the pack saw the ball moved quickly out through the backs to fullback Will Cunningham to cross the line.
Conversions came from James Close and Daniel Wonnacott. This was another superb team performance by Oke.

THERE was clean competitive rugby from both teams which is to be commended. Oke were captained by Shortie. The well matched teams went head to head both attacking and defending well. Powerhorse Lachs marched his way up the pitch for Oke covering valuable ground. Oke's defending on the line was forceful, with rucking performed well by Josh and Lachs. The first half saw one try awarded to the visitors.
The second half saw a good tackle by Ivybridge on Saul into touch. Saul got going, but was swamped by Ivybridge players and stopped in his tracks but still managed a try. Chris made a couple of good tackles and made a swift pass to Jacob, but he was brought down close to the try-line. Ed scored a superb try. Both teams were exhausted at the end of this intense match.
Tavistock U10s 35
OPM U10s 25
IT seemed that the Tavistock boys were going to suffer their traditional slow start when some sloppy defending allowed OPMs to trundle up the pitch and score straight from the kick off.
However, they recovered quickly and began to exert some offensive pressure themselves as Luke went close and then Christopher levelled the scores.
Tavistock's defence was immediately tested again and though the boys showed great teamwork holding up the attacking players right on the line, they just could not force a turnover and OPM's took the lead again. Luke and Christopher combined well with Chris's pass putting Luke through to score Tavistock's second and then a great break from Sam gave Chris another try.
Tavistock were dynamic and aggressive at the breakdown and they made OPM's work hard for their scoring opportunities. However, after a period of prolonged pressure OPMs were able to score their third and then a fourth to end the half leading by a single try.
Several fresh players took the field for Tavistock in the second half and they made an immediate impact with James D unlucky to be dragged down just short of the try line and then James L sprinting clear to score.
The strong tackling continued with Edward, Callum and Sam really getting stuck in and pressurising the opposition. Luke scored his second try to give Tavistock the lead and they looked determined not to lose it again with Edward scoring and Finn making a great pass to allow Ben through to score the final try of the game.

OPM U10s 15
TAVISTOCK's defence was increasingly effective with Sam again flying into tackles and several players forcing turnovers. Finn broke free from a ruck and although he was tackled James L showed great awareness to dive on a loose OPM pass into their own try zone and score.
OPMs scored when Dylan was left isolated in a tackle.
Tavistock's aggressive defence by Matthew D Luke, Eddie and Dylan was rewarded as OPMs could not make headway and Edward rounded off a good all-round display for Tavistock with the final try to level the match.
Okehampton U10s 25
Ivybridge U10s 15
The second game was as competitive as the first. Josh, Lachs and Callum for Oke all worked together well to lead on to Callum's try. Shortie made a super run and after a lot of scambling around, Will touched down. An excellent pass to captain Ed enabled him to nip through and score in the corner. Oke almost scored again, but Ivybridge managed to hold the ball up.
The second half saw passes from Will and Ben, each to Saul for him to score twice. Flynn kept pressure on an Ivybridge player to force him into touch. Oke were attacking well close to the Ivybridge tryline, but an Ivybridge player broke away for one of their tries. This was finished off by a further try for the visitors Shea and Ed were players of the match.
Tavistock U9s 18 tries
OPM U9s 10 tries
TAVISTOCK hosted OPM at Sandy Park for their third match of the season. Due to the size of the team Tavistock fielded different sides for each half.
The first half started well for Tavistock and early tries by Joshua Bailey (2) and Archie Wall saw them take an early 3-0 lead. OPM came back but some solid running, tackling by the team and tries by Sam Perkins (2), Harvey Sandu (2) saw Tavistock take hold of the game.
Further tries by Joshua Bailey and Archie Wall ensured Tavistock went into the break with a commanding 9-3 lead.
The second half was a tighter affair. OPM opened the scoring and the game was tit for tat. Tries by Archie Chalk (4), Ted Wilkinson and Amelie White ensured Tavistock maintained their lead.
Towards the end of the match though some fine tackling and two tries by Laird Whitford and Ben Richardson ensured Tavistock were the clear victors.
Tavistock U8s 3 tries
OPM U8s 5 tries
OPMs came out fighting, taking six tags to win possession straight away and went on to score their first try.
Tavistock came back well and put together some good passes before losing possession after a forward pass. This was a good period of pressure from both sides, with each taking control of the ball after some sustained consecutive tagging.
OPMs took advantage though and scored again. A flying run from Jack saw him touch down just before half time, but OPMs increased their lead before the whistle.
Tavistock kept up the pressure after the break, trying really hard to snatch those OPM tags. And when they won possession there were some great combinations of passes going through nearly the whole team. Tavistock player of the week Nathan was on form, both in tagging and with his storming runs to score two tries to take the score to 3 - 5.
Tavistock U8s 8 tries
OPM U8s 5 tries
TAVISTOCK put on the pressure from the whistle and after winning possession at the far end of the pitch, Tom picked up the ball and ran the full length to score the first of his three tries.
Tavistock maximised on another loose ball for William A to touch down. There was some great tagging from this Tavistock team, but OPM scored twice before the break. Some good work between William A and Dominic saw them both score before the whistle to keep the home side ahead.
After half time, OPMs came back straight away with a try. But then a great run up the side of the pitch by Dominic and Tom saw Tom score his second. More excellent teamwork tagging from the Tavistock players saw them win possession and William A score his third of the match. Most improved player William T-Y touched down too while Tom completed his hat trick by running the length of the pitch again. A good team effort.
Oke U7s 1 14 tries

Ivybridge U7s 19 tries
THIS Oke 2 side followed the same pattern as the Oke 1 with a similar result. Tries came from Jacob (7), Molly (2), Stanley (2) and Zara while Finley did some good tagging. Rocco sportingly played for Ivybridge to make up numbers and unfortunately for Oke he played well scoring several tries!
