AFTER one of the most active sailing seasons, Weir Quay Sailing Club's dinghy racing finished with a series of race days and a good turnout of 24 helms and crew who entered at least one of the races.

Club spokesman Graham Reed said: 'The reinstatement of handicap dinghy racing has been very successful so will continue for next year's races. The handicap process is a great encouragement for all our cadets to compete on an even-keel.'

The final results were based on the four best race results by individual helms out of the six races that were held on three race days.

It was a close run thing with the best helm with Eleanor Eastman first, closely followed by second Steve Kirby and third James Platts.

The other helms in order are: Chris Coomber, Brendan Seward, Gary Strong and Chris Fillan.

Organisers thanked the supporters in safety boats, onshore repairs, Ian Kilpatrick and team. Racing officer, Chris Miller is looking forward to 2015 and even more boats at the start-line.
