IN the Okehampton and district table tennis league division two this week Moretonhampstead were home to Okehampton C.
Frank Cockburn put Okehampton ahead against Brian Skilton. Graham Adnitt levelled the score 1-1 winning his first single of the season against Ivor Copley. Richard Rose won the first against Richard Underhill and went on to complete a fine maximum. Frank won the next and went on to complete his maximum although Richard Underhill took him all the way in his last singles, just losing out 9-11, 9-11, 5-11, putting Okehampton 7-1 ahead.
Brian Skilton won the last singles for Moreton and joined Graham in the doubles against Frank and Richard who won in four legs for a fine 8-2 win to Okehampton C.
The next match Anchorage against Okehampton B in a close hard fought match the result was a 5-5 draw.
Thanks to a fine maximum for young Harry Bryant although he had to work hard beating the more experience David Wilson in four legs, just taking the fourth leg 13-11. Colin Jones took him to a fifth leg decider in his second game just losing out 14-12, 11-5, 9-11, 8-11, 6-11.
Roger Gilbert also had a close game against Dick Randell, who just won 9-11, 4-11, 14-13. 11-13, 12-14, to leave the score at 3-3. David won the last singles against Dick Randell to put Anchorage 5-4 ahead in the doubles Harry Bryant and Dick Randell beat David Wilson and Colin Jones in four legs to win Okehampton A 5-5 draw.
