Okehampton Argyle 3
Sidmouth Town 0
ARGYLE played their best football of the season to date with this comfortable victory at home to Sidmouth Town.
Buoyed by their performance against title favourites Tavistock the previous week, Argyle started brightly but it was the visitors who fashioned the first chance of the game with Mark Pavey forcing Harry Geering into a smart save in the second minute.
Argyle, with Luke Alden and Tallan Burns causing problems on the flanks and Toby Gostling pulling the strings in midfield, slowly began to take control of the game, but they were guilty of missing some gilt edged chances, most notably when Luke flashed a low ball across the Sidmouth six yard box which was missed by Roger Bonaparte and Tallan Burns with the goal at their mercy.
The opening goal for Argyle in the 25th minute was a well worked effort from Corey Burns at right back with Luke Alden.
Argyle missed one or two more chances before increasing their lead in the 35th minute when Roger Bonaparte seized upon an under hit back pass to prod the ball home from 12 yards.
Sidmouth came out strongly in the second half and Argyle had Harry Geering to thank for keeping their two goal lead intact with a couple of fine saves.
Jason Cordice returned after missing the last six games with an ankle injury. He came off the bench on the hour and scored after he latched onto Toby Gostling's through ball and steered the ball past the Sidmouth keeper.
The team's continued improvement sees them move into the top half of the table for the first time this season.
n Argyle travel to Teignmouth this coming Saturday, kick off 2.15pm.
