With Steve Lamb making his debut in the Walkhampton goal his side controlled the game from the kick-off.

Graham Galway found himself in front of goal on two occasions in the first half but could not quite find the back of the net.

On the right wing, Patrick Johnson's quick feet proved a handful for the Vaults; he rounded the keeper but a great block on the goal line stopped Walkhampton taking the lead.

Lamb in goal looked calm and composed but was troubled little thanks to the strong back Walkhampton back four of Sam Bruty, Ross Still, Jamie Clamp and Lee Wood.

Against the run of play Friary Vaults made it 1-0 just before half time with a 20 yard effort leaving the goalie no chance.

Walkhampton started the second half just as they did the first. Chris Shutt and Steve Gibbings dominated the midfield and their passes were beginning to find their range with Dave Greenwood linking the play well. They were rewarded in the 75th minute courtesy of a superb, defence splitting ball from captain Gibbings; a clinical volley from Graham Galway made it 1-1.

Despite bringing on substitutes Mark Gibbings, Jacob Burn and Paul Gibbings Walkhampton just could not break through for the winner.
