COTEHELE Quay Gig Club rowers are inviting local people to join them for a big breakfast to help raise funds for a new boat.
The ladies' veterans crew will serve up large plates of tasty local produce at Harrowbarrow Village Hall near Callington from 8.30am to noon on Saturday, October 19.
Co-organiser Fiona Macinnes said: 'We were extremely pleased with the community support we received when we held a quiz night and barbecue at the same venue.
The club's two wooden racing gigs will shortly come out of the water for winter maintenance, meaning the 100 rowers would have been left with just one plastic gig to train in until spring.
Gig captain Jeremy Lawrence said: 'We've ordered another training gig so all our members will still have the chance to row over the winter. We're a rapidly growing club and the equipment which saw us through last season is no longer sufficient to cater for the number of local people taking up gig rowing.
'The boat is costing more than £9,000 which means a serious fundraising drive is necessary and we're very grateful to have the support of the community.'
