IT was an excellent start to the Spring season for 27 members of Tavistock Swimming Club competing at the Plymouth Leander Spring Meet at The Life Centre last weekend.
There were a total of 93 personal best times achieved with 40 top five placings which included 10 bronze, 12 silver and five gold medals. First places were achieved by Mia Buckley (100m breaststroke), J J Lake (200 IM), Cara McVeigh (50m butterfly), Nathaniel Rookes (100m freestyle) and Hannah Walker (50m freestyle).
The following swimmers also competed at this gala: Erika Buckley, Izzy Cox, Phoebe Eddings, Amber Francis, Holly Harvey, Tess Hopes, Bea Kinnear, Miley Lake, Polly Laseby, Ruby Montgomery, George Morgan, Evie Palmer, Sam Palmer, Harry Pearse, Samuel Rice, Amy Roberts, Finley Smallshaw, Olivia Townsend, Charlotte Walker, Aiden Weeks, Erin Whitford and Aiya Zaleski.
Tavistock SC head coach James Lake congratulated competitors on their successful swims and continued improvement and has the following message for wannabe swimmers in the Tavistock area.
n The club is having a free open day session at Meadowlands Pool on Thursday, April 12 between 6-7pm.
Swimmers aged 7-11 at stage 6 or above are welcome to meet the coaches and learn about opportunities at the club.
