TAVISTOCK Run Project have been training hard through the winter months, which was evident in the results from this weekend.

First up to race was Victoria Moore, who at just 20 years of age, is in the midst of training for her first marathon this year. She chose the Exeter Half marathon as a benchmark race - a 13.1 mile course through the scenic roads of Exeter.

The race proved she is bang on where she needs to be for her marathon debut at London. Victoria ran an excellent race, finishing with a superb time of 1 hour 45 minutes 26 seconds which bodes extremely well for her marathon target.

Ollie Smart is another youngster who has shown extreme potential for a bright future in running. After a successful cross country season in the Westward league, a series that takes place over six races throughout Devon and Cornwall, Ollie needed just one more race to secure his title as under 15 series champion. This race, held at Plymouth this round, was a little short for Ollie at 3.2km; however, he still managed to run to a comfortable win, despite extremely challenging conditions with deep, thick mud throughout the course. His win subsequently sealed his series victory.

Ollie has had an excellent season so far, paving the way for an exciting future career in running.
