Sunday saw Tavistock Run Project take part in the second meeting of the Westward League cross country staged at Newquay, incorporating the Cornwall County Championships.

In the U13s girls Holly Cole started proceedings with a strong run encouraged by her dad from the sidelines. Following on, in the senior ladies Rachael Malthouse led home a trio of Jenny Sabine and Emma Dooney for another solid team performance.

In the final race of the day TRP put out 13 runners and with individual and team battles ensuing all over the course. The team, led by Ben Neale, placed three in the top 18 and rounded off by a rousing run from Henry Ware who was once again placed highly in the overall team rankings, consolidating TRP position as top West Devon club. The next round will take place at Exeter on December 2 and hosts the Devon championships.

Last Thursday, Ed Smart ran strongly to comfortably win the West Devon schools cross country at Staddiscombe.
