TRISH Deykin from Milton Coombe competed in the British Sprint Distance Triathlon Championships held at Emberton Park outside of Milton Keynes earlier this month.

The triathlete, who suffers from multiple sclerosis, has not competed since she took part in the World Championships 2013 —due to a Chemo type treatment.

To hamper her effort even more Trish unfortunately, two weeks prior to the race, had an accident while riding her friend’s horse and bruised her shin bone.  With this injury she was unable to run until race day.

In the British Sprint Distance Triathlon Championships a 750 metre swim was held in a lake followed by a 20 kilometre bike. Trish, a patron for the charity ’Sportability’ who organise activities for people with disabilities, told Times Sport: ‘I knew I wasn’t able to run very well so I absolutely went for it on the bike which paid off.  My run was awful and my time was abysmal (for me) but I still managed to come first in my age group and seventh female overall.  I’m over the moon and never thought I’d be British champ again.  I’m a patron for the charity “Sportability” who organise activities for people with disabilities.’
