Tavistock v Lewdown

ON a warm Sunday afternoon Tavistock and Lewdown met for the second time in two days.

Tavistock batted first and entertained the crowd with a respectable score of 232-7.

Tim Pope top scored with 92, following on from this 100 the week before. James Stephens, Rhys Davies and James McGahey chipped in with useful runs while the Hurn brothers took five of the seven wickets to fall.

Lewdown undaunted by the total started off in reply with great style. Eggford, Butler and Murray batted forcibly to reduce the deficit.

With only two wickets down and a large total on the board it looked like Lewdown would coast home. However the introduction of Jamie Stephens and James McGahey to the bowling attack turned the game around with seven wickets between them. They reduced Lewdown to 222 all out — a great effort but falling just ten runs short.
