AS part of the Devon County ASA 120-year anniversary celebrations, which took place at the Plymouth Life Centre, masters' relays events were arranged. Tavistock Swimming Club entered two teams in a total of five events. The more senior team of Chris Anderson, Hayley Beer, Peter France and Yvonne Carpenter-Warren competed in both a 4 x 25m freestyle relay and a 4 x 25m medley relay, in which each swimmer raced over 25m. In the youngest masters' age group – club coaches James Lake, Nathaniel Rookes, together with Matt Edwards and Iain Chalmers – competed in three relays, which tested their endurance as there was little time between each relay. Their team competed in both the 4 x 50m freestyle and medley relays in their age-group and also the 4 x 25m medley relay. n Tavistock Masters are a growing section of the club, training at 8pm on Tuesday evenings at Meadowlands Pool. If you are interested in joining them then do go along, have some enjoyable swimming with club coach James Lake in attendance – previous competition swimming is definitely not a requirement – and you don't have to aspire to be a competitive swimmer.
