Tavistock ladies’ firsts 1

Caradon ladies 2

AFTER a great away win to Penzance last week Tavistock were looking to get another three points behind them, knowing that it was always going to be a tough match against Caradon.

The game started quickly with Caradon placing immediate pressure on the Tavistock backline of Boulle, Pollock, Mills-Hicks and Wood — all working hard to keep the opposition clear.

With some dangerous runs up front from Lamb, Tavistock were looking a threat in the Caradon D; a great ball through to Donnelly for Tavistock’s first scoring opportunity, which narrowly missed the target.

With no score at half time there was all to play for.

The Caradon ladies came out determined and from the first short corner of the half a strong shot at goal saw the glove of Viggars; a second rebound saw Boulle putting her body on the line to keep the ball out but the keeper was unfortunate to be beaten by the third for Caradon to open their score.

The midfield trio of Scott, Payne and Bassett worked hard to maintain the intensity that the home side needed to try and get back into the game.

Caradon were awarded another short corner and with a well drilled routine put the second goal into the Tavistock net.

Tavistock stayed determined and put the leg work in, with some superb linking from the midfield to forward Lamb, who took it past the Caradon defence and across to Lindsay, who slipped it to Donnelly on the post who slipped it past the keeper.

With little time remaining Tavistock kept applying the pressure, but were unfortunate to not get another before the final whistle.
