Okehampton 5
Torbay 2
OKEHAMPTON hosted a Torbay hockey side that looked to threaten the home side from the start.
The Oke side had looked to have complete control of proceedings in the early minutes, however, a lapse in concentration from them led to a scrappy goal being conceded to the visitors.
Oke seemed to use this as a wakeup call, and in no time at all they won a penalty flick, which Liversidge coolly put in the top corner. Great work from the defence, in particular the man of the match Aylen, was stopping everything that came through.
Once again Oke pressed, and Miller was able to put away another. Oke then looked comfortable, and Luxton was able to latch on to a ball and put them 3-1 up.
Just before the break a short corner deflected in by Hall, his first of the season, led to the home side being 4-1 up by half time. Okehampton carried on as planned, and were pushing for another goal, but receiving yellow cards to Hall and Whalley the side started to tire. With Oke down to ten men with Hall back on the side Torbay made it 4-2.
When Oke were back to 11 men they looked fluent again and nd another cool flick from Liversidge and a nicely worked goal finished by Parsons put the game to bed. Okehampton have now broken their bad streak of games, with a convincing win over a good team.
