Okehampton ladies’
firsts 6
Exe ladies’ thirds 2
OKEHAMPTON ladies’ hockey first team started their match well with Jo Moppett scoring a quick goal only minutes after the whistle was blown.
Short bounce passes between Hannah Whiteley and Kim Davey, showing great control, enabled Oke to get around the Exe players successfully and led to Moppett scoring the second goal.
Both Ailsa Gibb and Sophia Marshall played well on the wings for Oke, widening the play and enabling Laura Parsons to efficiently switch the direction of play and create space.
A superb third goal was scored by captain Kim Davey, who chipped it right into the corner; it was followed by the fourth goal scored by Annebelle Rademaker, who used control and skill to get it past the goalie. Okhampton went into the break 4-0 in the lead.
A break from an Exe player meant that the opposition scored a goal but Nicky Stoneman and Carol Taylor pressed back strongly so that no further advances from Exe could be made.
Alice Wiseman in goal proved to be steadfast making a number of saves, including an impressive dive, while Nicky Pedrick and Amanda Sim marked tightly and made sure that the ball did not travel into the Oke D.
The fifth goal was scored by Hannah Whiteley who was in the perfect position on the post, followed by an impressive goal by Lesley Bingham aided by the speedy Louise Weller.
Exe came back in the last minute to score their second goal.
