Brixham Colts 0

Tavistock Colts 20

THIS was a physical test for Tavistock Colts away to a highly committed Brixham team.

Brixham got off to a bright start and had the better of the early stages with their forwards first to the breakdown and achieving a high number of turnovers.   The Tavistock defence was equal to the challenge, however, soaking up everything that was thrown at them and soon managed to turn defence into attack.  The visitors worked the ball well and began to dominate possession with some successful phase play.  They were unlucky not to score when the ball was first deemed to have been held up, and then later to have been touched down on the dead-ball line after a kick forward.

Taylor Kingham scored a penalty to give Tavistock a 3-0 half time lead.

Tavistock took charge of the second half from the off and were soon rewarded for their persistence when some excellent back play set Glen Fuller free to run in the first try.

Brixham piled on the pressure but could not break through the Tavistock defence.

The visitors pressured the ball and forced an error which they capitalised on with Aaron Dobbie scoring after a superb counter-attacking move; Taylor Kingham added the conversion.

Tavistock continued to attack, moving the ball to stretch the Brixham defence.  Their pressure was rewarded when Will Dennitt ran in to score a good team try.

Brixham were unlucky not to score late on but the ball was again deemed to have been held up.

This was a fifth straight win of Tavistock Colts — just reward for their determination in defence and creativity in attack.
