North Devon 7

Okehampton 0

WITH a depleted first team hockey squad Okehampton travelled to league leaders North Devon knowing full well what a tough task they had ahead of them.

Things took a massive turn for the worse when defender Luke Liversidge was forced off with a knee injury. The home side soon assumed control and dominated proceedings finding the net four times in the opening half.

The second half saw the visitors shuffle their side and Alex Osman having a superb game at centre back instead of the injured Liversidge. Only five minutes into the half Okehampton were then reduced to ten men through another injury when influential midfielder Joff Stephens took a ball to the mouth and needed to go to the hospital for treatment.

With two U15s also in their squad and one making his debut the away side fought valiantly and only conceded three more.

Every Oke player gave everything to stop the bombardment from the home side, keeper Andy Harvey producing some exceptional saves and the three defenders making excellent last ditch tackles.

The two youngsters Jack Watson and Tom Hutchins deserve great praise for the way they coped with the game.
